You're close Abe in that Anthony Hopkins ended up playing the Moor in that very BBC production. But the original choice was an American-born star and character actor and it is his name I seek.

Sorry Ozzo it's not Colin Farrell but the actor in question is a lot nearer to him in age than Pierce Brosnan would be. The reference to Waterloo is to the famous Battle of 1815.
