He won Wimbledon before he first won the French I think and so his 1976 win over Ilie Nastase was his first Grand Slam Major title ... (I have just realised that HughL has solved this and I misread/ misunderstood the question - Sorry! Hugh obviously has the baton ...)

A film with a somewhat related plot to Von Ryan's Express was Hannibal Brooks which featured Oliver Reed and another pachyderm in the central roles. I recall the elephant being called Lucy in the film but was Aida perhaps the thick-skinned thesp's real-life moniker?
