Yep that's it David, Kim Carnes ex of The New Christy Minstrels. She kept 'Being With You' off number one in the States with 'Bette Davis Eyes'. Over to you for the next challenge.

Re: Contuinuous Quiz - Music

Not that one John unfortunately, a good educated guess though. The lady in question wasn't a Tamla Motown star in fact but was briefly a member of a group in the 60s who didn't quite make it in the UK though they had quite a few Turntable Hits. She was popular in the early 80s but was pretty much fo...

Re: Contuinuous Quiz - Music

It doesn't look like anyone is going to get it so I'll give the answer and set another. The band lead by Danny Wilson is Semisonic. Moving on then, my next challenge is ...Smoky Robinson wrote 'Being With You' with a female singer in mind to record it. The lady declined and strangely, her own hit si...

Re: Contuinuous Quiz - Music

Many thanks Ken, ok everyone here is the next challenge : Which singer and actor was the first to release a Lennon and McCartney song in the UK when his version of 'Misery' narrowly failed to reach the chart upon release in 1963. The track had been offered to Helen Shapiro but was turned down by her...

Re: Contuinuous Quiz - Music

I've had to play through a couple to get it, it's annoying because I have the album too so I should have known it was 'The Friends Of Mr Cairo' by Jon and Vangelis. Great question that, I may borrow it for use in my Pop Quiz if that's ok with you. Nice one Ken.

Re: Contuinuous Quiz - Music

Interesting question Ken, I have all the Canadian, Aussie, USA, Belgian and Dutch no 1's of 1981 but there aren't any that reference The Maltese Falcon or other films and sound effects. The nearest thing was maybe Key Largo by Bertie Higgins but that is only top 10 and also a minor UK hit so it can'...
