Yes, Rudi fell out with Adi and went off to make sport shoes for himself. The village split too...

Anyway, to a question (prompted by Fitzroy)

When Fitzroy MacLean wanted to leave the Foreign Office and join the Army in 1941, what other organisation did he have to become a member of?

He was a prototype of James Bond ... Is the answer the SAS?

He did join the SAS, but later (it had not been formed when he wanted to join up).

The wrinkle is that he was in a "reserved occupation" and held a commission, and was told that if he enlisted, he would be sent straight back to his old job.

There was one institution he could join that meant the FO would not be able to use him, and which did not care if he joined the Armed Forces at the same time. Can you work out what that was?

I've not got much more by way of clues. But I was careful to ask which body did he have to become a member of (or Member of, if you prefer).

After that clue I'd guess Parliament!

Absolutely. The Conservative Association and the voters of Lancaster fixed it for him.

Thanks!
What was the name of the house shared by Errol Flynn and David Niven?

In deference to Errol's gargantuan thirst they called the house "Cirrhosis by the sea"!

Thanks Danny this is one which would have been topical last weekend ...

Which city has held an annual St Patrick's Day parade since 1737 (making it the longest running such parade anywhere in the world)?
