Ken - will the jewellery shop be offering a discount again this year? Likewise Baggins Books ?

I suspect his anxiety may be justified!

Discount with Kaizen already agreed as before - just need to verify that Baggins and Bewitched are up for it again too.

Hi Chris. Please sign me and my dad up for Rochester. We'll pay on the day if that's OK.

That's Jamie Hall and John Hall

Cheers - Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Glad you and your Dad can join us. Payment on the day is fine.

All the best

P.S. If your mum is coming to Rochester with you, it may serve her to make sure she gets details of discounts available in local shops, negotiated by our host Ken (see a post one or two above this). Alternatively if she's at the venue for the event intros, about 11.20, she can get the latest info from the man himself. Then again, your Dad might not like to see her encouraged to go mad in the shop(s)?! :)

I am pleased to confirm, as previously, a special discount for Quizzers attending Rochester.

Baggins Books, the LARGEST second-hand bookshop in England, will give quizzers a 10% discount on orders of £25 or more. Just tell the staff that you are there with the Quiz. The main man - if he is around - is Godfrey.

Happy to confirm that the shop "Bewitched" in Rochester High Street, which has a lovely selection of women's clothing, bags, scarves and costume jewellery, will also be pleased, as previously, to offer Quizzers a discount.

Jewellery is already half-price, so that is not included - but the owners Andy and Nikki confirm that, if you tell the staff that you are with "Ken's Quiz", you can have 25% off any clothing, bags or scarves.

They really do have an interesting choice of stock - not the kind of stuff you see on the typical High Street, and at already keen prices. Perfect for the ladies who want to treat themselves - or the blokes who want to take something home and earn Brownie Points!

As it stands we have 79 people expected for the individual quiz (plus two more visitors for the PM only). As we only really have room for 80 people - we had 65 last year - we will reluctantly close registrations after the next person signs up [see caveat below].

I'm sorry if this leads to anyone's disappointment, but it is now Noon Thursday, less than 48 hours from kick-off, so to speak. If anyone else does desperately want to come, they CAN do so, but they will have to settle perhaps for being sat in a side room (far from ideal, and counter to our desire that Grands Prix are fun, social events!)

All that said, it's shaping up for a tremendous turn-out. Well done everyone, particularly Ken for all the effort he has put in over the years to make this such a popular event - what with his negotiating shop discounts and sorting out a tremendous evening's carousing etc. at the Good Intent. Thanks Ken!

These are the folk signed-up to a place (a number of whom have paid also).

Have I made it in time?

If you're happy to sit in a side room for the individual quiz (first 90 minutes of the morning?). As mentioned in the post above we're full in the main room so you'll need to be happy with sitting with a few others on the comfy seats in the lounge across the corridor :)

No problem at all — it'll be my first time, so I'm happy to start gently. I'll bring currency!
