John, our old quiz master, wrote his own questions but had a bit of a problem pronouncing them.

My particular favourite was What International team was captained by Francisco Pioneer?

Luckily we spoke 'John' and could correctly identify South Africa

We have now had the question that we were waiting for with the out of date answer, because it was set from an old book : What is the largest country in Africa?

Sudan was the answer that the question master had so it had to be accepted. I appreciate that it was not the worst question ever set.

My favourite from this Monday: Who painted The Last Supper? Quizmaster looked at me blankly when I asked which one...

There was a question in the MQL a couple of seasons ago:

Who released the album "Live in London"?

A search on Amazon comes up with Leonard Cohen, Regina Spektor, Il Divo and Barry Manilow in the first couple of results, and I'm sure there are many more

The other week in an actual league cup final the question read "According to the Office of National Statistics, with which hand do most people stir their cups of tea?" The surprise on most teams faces, when the answer was "Neither, they normally use a spoon", was priceless!!

And my favourite from a quiz book, "Who became King of England in 1327?", not sure that the answer of TEN-PIN BOWLING is correct :D

There is a FAR less savoury version of the "spoon" question which is an old "schoolboy humour" type joke, but of course it has no place on this august forum! :)

I had one at a Pub Quiz last night I *have* to share.

Quiz Master: "Which city hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics? That's which country hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics?"

Us: "City or country?"

Quiz Master: "Oh, sorry... City..."

Later

Quiz Master: "...and which city hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics? Brisbane..."

The entire room collectively shook their heads in disbelief!

this questions has got to be funny i am sure though that if I was the actual contestant i would have been so confused because you would not know if it is a tricky question or not especially if you are the on who is in time pressure or you would have to answer, it is in my style to have a wild guess though especially if i don't really know the answer and i'm on stand o i must've answered some of them right. :D
