Time spent recording a show

Postby Courtjester » Sat Feb 23, 2013 2:00 pm

I recently appeared on a quiz show for the first time(won't mention the name) and was amazed how long it took to record. When the programme was shown each one lasted about 25 minutes. I won my show so was obviously there until the end but it took almost 2½ hours to record. Is this typical or did I just appear on a bad one. A lot of the time was taken up by gaffs by the presenter and having to reset everything.

Two and a half hours filming Busmans Holiday for about 13 minutes of studio coverage, but my record is for a local sports quiz (hosted by England cricketer Graeme Fowler) on BBC North West when it took over an hour to do about five minutes

Time to spare a thought for those of us who record up to 5 shows a day then.

Some years ago I appeared on 100% Gold and won the last show of the day. As a consequence I appeared on the first show the next day and continued by streak until the last show - a total of eight shows recorded in one day. That was intense.
