Mastermind 2011/2012 Series Discussion

Postby DanielFullard » Fri Nov 25, 2011 9:14 am

I'm sure, like myself, that a lot of other users here make sure not to miss Mastermind each and every week. One of the very few programmes I actually watch now at the time its actually transmitted!

Thought it might be good to have a thread on here to discuss the current series. Shaping up to be a good one this year!

On a side note, Are there any Quizzing users in the contest this year?

Andy Tucker was on the first programme. I'm sure there will be more

And the important thing was that I auditioned at Rollestone on Dove in the margins of the Norwegian GP. The Mastermind test was more accessible than the GP!

Does anyone know about transmission dates? According to a book collectors' magazine I get, one of the subscribers was meant to be on yesterday (answering on Antonia Forest, which I am sure has been done relatively recently), but she wasn't - is the series running a few weeks behind schedule?

The series was due to start in September, but the first transmission (of 31) was actually on 4 November. 11 November was Children in Need Special, and so Friday was broadcast programme 3. They broke with the recording order straight away...

Re episode shown 25th November. I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this, but here goes:
My dad was telling me (on the phone) that he hadn't heard of one of the Specialist Subjects on this episode, but he couldn't remember the name of the group of people who it was about. I read out the subjects listed in the Radio Times and he remembered Speedway, Maximilian I and Led Zeppelin but said that the Russian Revolution was not in the episode.
Can anyone help me help my dad by telling me what the fourth subject was - unless it was the Russian Revolution and my dad's memory has failed him.
Thanks, John

The 4th subject was the Cathars.

Is it just me or in the last two episodes, have the people who have gone on to win had far far easier General Knowledge rounds? In the last two episodes there have been huge differences in the difficulties of the rounds if you ask me.

Well I wasn't keeping a close count on how many I got right but I was certainly left with the same impression as you.
