Sad news from the CIU

Postby Jane » Fri Oct 24, 2014 8:53 pm

Chris Brewis of the CIU has asked us to pass on some sad news:

'I am sorry to have to pass on the news that Dave Cornish, who set the questions for the CIU National Quiz for the last seven years, has died at the age of 60.

Dave, who had been suffering from oesophagal cancer, died peacefully at his home in Middlesex with his wife Anne by his side.

The author of several quiz books, including “How to Run a Quiz”, “How to Win Quizzes” and “The Team Quiz Book.” Dave also set quizzes for the Orwell Quiz Society in Ipswich for 15 years and for many charities including the NSPCC.

He worked for more than 30 years in the human resources department of Enfield Council before taking early retirement. As well as setting and competing in quizzes his other hobby was running and he was proud to have completed the London Marathon in under four hours and raised hundreds of pounds for Diabetes UK.

Condolences go to his wife Anne and his father, Peter, who is 89.'
