As part of the build-up to this weekend's Grand Prix quiz event, we have published the latest Order of Merit standings and UK Quiz Rankings.
The updated standings/rankings factor-in the 'UK-specific' aspects of the results from the individual contest staged during the European Quizzing Championships earlier this month.
The eagle-eyed among you will notice that a number of 'overseas' players are included in the results, this is because they appear on the UK Order of Merit and All Time Rankings by virtue of having taken part either in a UK GP, the British Championships, or have sat the WQC at the UK venue. This then explains the presence of Belgians, a Croat, and Indian, and some Irish quizzers. Didier Bruyere of France continues to storm up the rankings, but of course he's on there anyway by virtue of regular attendance at circuit events, thanks to his happily being a resident of Bristol.
One final bit of explanation, the Europeans were worth a lot of ranking points due to the size and strength of the field (in terms of Order of Merit ranks) and of course the (rightly) inflated tariff for the event (i.e. 1.5 times, or +50% the points allocated for ordinary Grands Prix).
Here you will find archived news items that, while no longer current, are nevertheless interesting enough to preserve for later perusal and reference.
