1 Liam Gallagher? 6 Pink (Lady Marmalade) 7 Cat Stevens (Lady D'arbanville). O-o-o could be 8 Billy Holliday as Lady Day was her nickname and not a song ...

Ericonabike : Thank you for taking part. Simply Red has already been suggested and I have checked that it does not agree with the connection that I am looking for.

I was just typing this when davidmfay's post appeared. All three answers are correct so to finish this we need the exact connection and number 1.

The position now is:

1 A Former member of Oasis
2 “The Voice UK” judge. Tom Jones
3 Plural of a naval rank - Commodores
4 French musical duo Modjo
5 Former New Christy Minstrel Kenny Rogers
6 A colour Pink
7 Religious convert Cat Stevens
8 American jazz singer and songwriter. Billie Holliday
9 Slightly misspelled insects : Beatles
10 Character in “The Magic Roundabout” : Dylan

Connection : All ????s with "lady" in the title and OOO is, as has been said, Lady Day.

I think that I should now give a clue for number one. Two of the other members of Oasis were Julien Lloyd Webber and Mary Hopkin.

It is Peter Skellern, who formed a group called Oasis in the 1980's long before those brothers (who support that team who are looking after the Premiership Trophy for a year) did.

The exact connection that I was looking for was simply that they were all UK hits (not merely songs because I do not know if Billie Holiday sang any songs which had "lady" in the title).

I am not sure who sets the next one. I assume that it is Benny who gave the last answer.

Good clarification. On her LP "Lady Sings the Blues" there is a song called "Lady Sings the Blues" Probably others.

Nice question

mjr: What you say about BH makes a lot of sense. Thank you for your kind comments.

Billy: I forgot to say "well done" for getting Peter Skellern. I put that in so that all of the answers would not be too obvious and I thought of the connection when listening to a chart of 1972. In my view, "You're A Lady is a very under rated song and is not played enough!

There I go trapping in a rebound again!

I like your thoughts "those brothers (who support that team who are looking after the Premiership Trophy for a year)"

If anyone has got anything please feel free otherwise I'll get my head round something later.
