1 Maggie May
6 Gretel
8 Marge (Margarine)
10 Greta Garbo

I detect perhaps a connection to the name Margaret?

Yes, the link is related to the name Margaret
1. Rod Stewart hit - MAGGIE May
2. wild flower
3. small household object - PEG
4. Steinbeck novel
5. Harrogate teashop - BETTYS
6.Cannon - Mons MEG
7. Fairytale character - GRETEL
8.Spread - MARGE
9.Gangster's companion - MOLL
10.Swedish actress - GRETA GARBO
As will be obvious by now there is an odd one out by the way. 2 and 4 are possibly less obviously linked than the others.

Both correct - only the OOO to get. The link is names derived from Margaret (my middle name).

I reckon betty is the o-o-o as its derived from elizabeth. Daisy is a diminutive of your middle name and pearl has some connection with the etymology of the name?
